Down here in Tex-ass, in my county, there's my two small weeklies, a CNHI semiweekly (daily pre-COVID in print) in the county seat, and a weekly shopper-type paper (more news than normal shopper, but still, shopper on the ultimate issue of running on a third-class mail permit) which, if it covered sports (its owner doesn't want to) would probably finish killing off the CNHI paper.
For at least six years, before I got here, the shopper was running legal notices for city of Gainesville and Cooke County and the CNHI paper was just letting it slide. About three months ago, they started running an ad on their own classified page stating "The Register is *qualified* to run public notices" etc. .... dunno if that will fully dry up the shopper's legals or not.
Ooh, what fun!
